Back To School & Back To Creating Content!

Summer's over, and this is why that means a captive audience for your podcast

Summer is winding down, but there’s no better time to embark on or upgrade your content creation journey.

Content consumption usually slows down over the summer due to vacations and activities that don’t involve commuting to a workplace. As the temperature drops, audio downloads and video views ramp up during the fall and winter months. With kids returning to the classroom as adults return to their jobs, podcasts are enjoyed at a more consistent pace, making it the best time to launch a show with more ears ready to listen.

Talking Shop At Networking Events

This past week, Rich and Matthew represented Press Record Studios at a networking event organized by the Queens Chamber of Commerce. It was a fantastic event, with dozens of like-minded business owners and entrepreneurs breaking bread (and devouring pizza) at the “Bourbon Street” restaurant on Bell Blvd.

It was no surprise to our team that so many people were genuinely interested in leveraging audio and video content as another angle to reach out to existing and prospective customers. Matt and Rich shared what makes Press Record Studios' special while demystifying the methods that businesses rely on for successful outreach.

Something as simple as doubling down on one platform rather than posting everywhere is a surefire way to build a loyal audience that knows you, likes you, and, most importantly, trusts you. If you engage with your audiences from a storytelling viewpoint versus a sales viewpoint, you’ll reap the rewards.

The PRS team is always available to provide some pointers to ensure your content is being seen or heard, or take the reins so you can focus on creating stellar content while we handle the marketing.

Special thanks to Brendan and the entire team from the Queens Chamber of Commerce for making the Press Record team feel welcome.

Pressing Questions

This week’s pressing question is: Where should I go to promote my content?

With so many platforms and so little time, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but Rich has an approach that makes your life easier while keeping your posts impactful.

While it is easy to say “everywhere,” that’s not the approach we recommend. Step back and get a pulse for your audience and the way they most interact with businesses.

Here’s a great example - If you are doing a podcast for businesses or professionals and being aggressive on Instagram or Snapchat and not on LinkedIn, then that’s a problem.

You need to be engaged and be of service on LinkedIn so that you become a Subject Matter Expert (or SME). If you’re seen as a resource, folks will be inclined to give your stuff a listen or a watch, and then you can sprinkle in your pitch to show how your service can help them in this area.

This doesn’t mean you should cast aside those other platforms. You should be laser-focused on one platform for 3-6 months before you look at a different place. Once you feel confident in your time-tested strategy, repurpose your posts to fit the other places and keep the momentum moving forward.

PRS Play

This week, we’d like to showcase Empress and her Faith Walk Life Talk audio and video podcast.

Empress stopped by Press Record Studios recently and sat down with author and fellow podcaster Ro McKenzie to discuss the biblical figure, Hagar, and a timeless message of hope and affirmation that resonates today.

This episode utilized a three-camera workflow to deliver a powerful and informative final product. The PRS team is also big on editing, as you’ll see in the video version above. Active cuts are far more interesting to watch than a raw sloppy mess, and keep viewers sticking around for longer durations as opposed to unedited conversations with a single camera angle.

You can check out Faith Walk Life Talk on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever you consume podcast content.

If you want to create content using a similar video presentation or discuss ideas to make your unique vision come to life, visit us at pressrecordstudios.com for a free consultation.

Stay tuned next week as we announce the launch of a new show created under our PRS banner!
